Fast, buffer-free western blotting transfer in seven minutes or less
The iBlot™ 2 Gel Transfer Device is a high-performance dry transfer system designed for rapid and reliable western blotting without the need for liquid buffers. As part of the iBlot™ 2 Dry Blotting System, it transfers proteins from gels to membranes in seven minutes or less, offering speed and reproducibility comparable to traditional wet-transfer methods.
The iBlot™ 2 system is compatible with polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) and nitrocellulose membranes, and can transfer proteins from mini-, midi-, and E-PAGE™-sized gels. It works exclusively with iBlot™ 2 Transfer Stacks, which contain pre-assembled buffers and transfer membranes, eliminating messy buffer preparation.
Key Features & Benefits
- Ultra-Fast Transfer – Complete protein transfer in ≤7 minutes.
- No Buffers Required – Pre-packaged stacks contain necessary buffers and membrane.
- High Sensitivity & Even Transfer – Ensures excellent detection performance across the blot.
- Reproducible Results – Pre-programmed voltage methods for consistent performance.
- Customizable Protocols – Six built-in voltage programs plus the ability to create custom methods.
- User-Friendly Operation – Built-in tutorials, application notes, and easy de-bubbling design to prevent air pockets.
- Versatile Gel Compatibility – Works with Bolt™, Novex™, NuPAGE™, and E-PAGE™ gels.
How It Works
Unlike wet or semi-dry transfer methods, the iBlot™ 2 incorporates buffer ion reservoirs directly into the gel matrix of the transfer stacks. High ion density and reduced electrode distance enable high field strength and rapid transfer. The copper anode design minimizes oxygen generation, reducing blot distortion.
Applications
- Rapid protein transfer for western blotting
- High-sensitivity protein detection with chemiluminescent, chromogenic, or fluorescent methods
- Routine blotting in research labs needing fast turnaround times
