The Invitrogen™ PureLink™ Total RNA Blood Kit is specifically designed for the rapid purification of high-quality total RNA from fresh whole mammalian blood (50–500 µL). Unlike standard RNA extraction kits, this system includes a leukocyte enrichment step using hypotonic shock to selectively lyse non-nucleated erythrocytes while preserving leukocytes, ensuring higher RNA yields and preventing column clogging.
The entire protocol can be completed in less than one hour using simple spin column–based technology, without the use of phenol or other hazardous organic solvents. The purified RNA is free from erythrocyte-derived debris and genomic DNA contamination, making it suitable for a wide variety of sensitive downstream applications.
