BROTH MICRODILUTION MIC PLATE READING
BIOMIC V3 automates the reading and interpretation of broth microdilution MIC plates* for human and veterinary labs. This improves the accuracy, speed and standardization of reading. AI algorithms generate test results and assist user decision making and reporting including pattern matching, character recognition, and image analysis.
An enlarged plate image is instantly displayed on screen with well results and interpretations. BIOMIC V3 reads turbidity and color wells with brightfield and darkfield lighting. Results and images are saved automatically and can be printed or sent via LIS/LIMS. Plate images can be captured using a top camera reader (larger unit with monitor) and bottom camera reader (smaller unit).
BIOMIC V3 Reads:- Sensititre (Thermo Scientific) plates*
- MicroScan (Beckman Coulter) plates*
- MICRONAUT (Bruker) plates*
- ComASP (Liofilchem) plates*
- Custom Broth Microdilution plates

DISK DIFFUSION
The BIOMIC V3 Microbiology System provides automated reading, interpreting, and expert review of CLSI or EUCAST antibiotic disk diffusion (Kirby-Bauer) tests on 90-150mm plates. This greatly improves accuracy, speed, and standardization of testing. AI algorithms generate test results and assist user decision making and reporting including pattern matching, character recognition, and image analysis.
An enlarged plate image with antibiotic disks and zone diameter reading is displayed with the option to adjust on-screen by the user. Test results and high resolution images are saved automatically and may be printed or sent to your lab's LIS/LIMS.
BIOMIC V3 automates:- Disk position
- Drug code recognition (for BD & Oxoid disks)
- Zone diameter reading
- S-I-R interpretation (based on CLSI or EUCAST guidelines)
Quality Control & Inventory Management software is included with this module.
Plate Lighting
BIOMIC V3 customers may adjust the lighting source on-screen to help read plates with poor or weak growth. Each plate image is saved with multiple lighting options for future review.

Plate Image Filters
BIOMIC V3 customers may select from 6 image filters to help visualize difficult-to-read zones.
Image Filter 1 - Natural Image Filter 3 - Enhance Blue Image Filter 5 - Contrast | Image Filter 2 - Brighten Image Filter 4 - Enhance White Image Filter 6 - Multi-Channel |
Resistance Monitoring & Antibiogram Reports
BIOMIC V3 provides antibiotic resistance monitoring following current CLSI or EUCAST guidelines. This includes a variety of antibiogram reports including Cumulative Susceptibility, Trend Chart/Graph by Susceptibility Category, Trend Graph by Zone Diameter, Distribution Graph by Zone Diameter, Location Specimen & Organism Count, Single-Drug Organism Tracking, Multi-Drug Organism Tracking, and more. Select the report below to enlarge image.
Automated Disk Code Recognition
BIOMIC V3 automatically recognizes antibiotic disk codes for BD and Oxoid disks. For example, BD disk code AM-10 is recognized as Ampicillin. If a BIOMIC V3 customer uses disks from a different manufacturer (example: Liofilchem), the customer would simply assign the disk positions on the plate during a one-time setup.

Rapid AST Direct from Positive Blood Culture
Rapid AST direct from positive blood culture guidelines from EUCAST (RAST) and CLSI are included with this module.

COLONY COUNT
BIOMIC V3 automatically counts bacterial, yeast, and mould colonies and virus plaque assays on agar plates with color digital imaging technology. This saves 99% of reading time and eliminates subjective variation and transcription errors.
Plate images are displayed in high resolution with counting tools and options available on-screen. Parameters can be defined to optimize counting performance and accuracy. Plate images and results are saved for future review.
Chromogenic agar ID is included with the Colony Count module.

URINE SCREEN
BIOMIC V3's Urine Screen module analyzes microtiter plates containing chromogenic agar to screen out negative urine samples. This BIOMIC V3 software module allows high volume microbiology labs to process thousands of urine samples per day with limited manual intervention.
Urine Screen Overview Microtiter plates containing chromogenic agar are inoculated with manual or automated pipettes. After a 12 hour incubation, BIOMIC V3 instantly reads plate wells as negative, inconclusive, or positive based on color image analysis. Users review all results on-screen and can edit as needed.
Negative results are reported 'No Pathogen Isolated'. Additional comments may be added: 'Mixed Enteric Organisms Isolated', 'Mixed Growth', 'Insignificant Growth', 'No Growth'. Positive results are reported e.g. 'Significant E. Coli Isolated' based on chromogenic agar color.
Inconclusive wells may be changed to positive or negative on-screen. Inconclusive and positive results may be traditionally plated for count and ID. Confirmed test results are saved and exported via text file. Urine Screen Advantages: 1) Rapid, cost effective elimination of negative urines 2) Highly automated workflow with instant plate reading 3) High resolution plate images saved
