The Invitrogen™ ATP Determination Kit is a highly sensitive luminescence-based assay for the quantitative detection of ATP in biochemical assays, cell viability tests, metabolic studies, and microbial detection. Leveraging the luciferase–luciferin reaction, this kit can detect as little as 0.1 picomole of ATP using a luminometer or microplate reader equipped with luminescence capability.
With its exceptional sensitivity and flexible format, the kit is ideal for applications ranging from cell viability analysis to environmental contamination monitoring. The luciferase and luciferin components are supplied separately, enabling optimization for specific sample types and detection instruments.
Assay Principle
This assay is based on the absolute requirement of luciferase for ATP to generate light. In the presence of Mg²⁺, luciferase catalyzes the reaction of D-luciferin, ATP, and O₂ to form oxyluciferin, AMP, CO₂, pyrophosphate, and light emission at ~560 nm (pH 7.8). The luminescence signal is directly proportional to ATP concentration, allowing precise quantification.
Key Features
- Exceptional Sensitivity – Detects as little as 0.1 picomole of ATP.
