Following broth enrichment, this medium facilitates the rapid and reliable differentiation of Listeria species through chromogenic and enzymatic activity.
Listeria species produce blue-green colonies by cleaving the chromogen X-glucoside through ß-glucosidase activity. Listeria monocytogenes and Listeria ivanovii are further identified by their ability to produce lecithinase, which hydrolyzes lecithin in the medium, creating an opaque, white halo around colonies.

Preparation Instructions
- Suspend: Suspend 71.6g of Brilliance Listeria Agar (ISO) in 1 liter of distilled water.
- Mix and Heat: Heat with frequent agitation to dissolve completely. Do not autoclave.
- Supplement: Add Brilliance Listeria Agar (ISO) Selective Supplements (SR0257 and SR0258) aseptically.
- Dispense: Pour the prepared medium into sterile Petri dishes and allow it to solidify.
- Inoculate: Following broth enrichment, inoculate the medium and incubate as required.
