The Liofilchem™ MTS™ Temocillin TMO MIC Test Strips (0.064–1024 µg/mL) are precision diagnostic tools designed to determine the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of Temocillin, a narrow-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic. Temocillin is specifically effective against beta-lactamase-producing Gram-negative pathogens, including AmpC, ESBL, and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales.

Testing Procedure

  1. Preparation:
    • Prepare a bacterial suspension equivalent to a 0.5 McFarland standard using colonies from a fresh agar plate.
    • Inoculate a Mueller-Hinton Agar (MHA) plate by evenly spreading the suspension with a sterile swab.
  2. Application of Test Strips:
    • Place the Liofilchem™ MTS™ Temocillin TMO strip on the agar surface using sterile forceps or an applicator.
    • Ensure the strip adheres completely to the agar.
  3. Incubation:
    • Incubate the plate at 35 ± 2°C for 16–20 hours in ambient air.
  4. Interpretation of Results:
    • Read the MIC value where the inhibition ellipse intersects the scale on the strip.
    • Compare the MIC to EUCAST or CLSI breakpoints for clinical interpretation.
