Based on the formulation developed by Mossel et al., this medium uses oxytetracycline as the selective agent, providing increased colony counts compared to low-pH media and improving the detection of physically stressed yeasts.

This agar base is particularly useful in food microbiology for the isolation and enumeration of fungal contaminants, especially in products where low pH media may suppress yeast growth.
