Fluorescent β-galactosidase-based probe for sensitive detection of cellular senescence

The Invitrogen™ CellEvent™ Senescence Green Detection Kit provides a highly sensitive, fluorescence-based method for the image-based detection of senescent mammalian cells. This kit includes a fluorescein-based probe containing two galactoside moieties, making it a specific target for β-galactosidase, a biomarker strongly associated with cellular senescence.

Upon enzymatic cleavage by β-galactosidase, the probe generates a covalently bound, cell-retained fluorescent product with excitation/emission maxima of 490/514 nm, easily detected with standard Alexa Fluor™ 488/FITC filter sets. The probe’s fluorescence is well retained, enabling clear imaging and analysis over extended periods.

Designed for use with fixed samples, the kit’s optimized buffer and compatibility with paraformaldehyde fixation allow multiplexing with other fluorescent reagents, making it an excellent choice for high-content analysis and fluorescence microscopy workflows.
