The IDEXX Enterolert-DW Test is a rapid and reliable method for detecting enterococci in drinking water. When coupled with the Quanti-Tray System, this test provides quantitative results with confirmed detection in 24 hours. The Enterolert-DW Test offers a more accurate and specific detection method when compared to traditional methods such as ISO 7899-2 and MoDW 2006, part 5, making it ideal for ensuring safe drinking water in various environments.
Using Defined Substrate Technology (DST), the Enterolert-DW Test utilizes a unique nutrient indicator to detect enterococci in water samples, turning from blue to green when the enzyme substrate is metabolized by the enterococci. The MPN (Most Probable Number) enumeration method is used to quantify results, offering a simple and effective solution for microbial water testing.
Key Features & Benefits:
-
Fast and Efficient:
- Confirmed results in 24 hours, reducing the time needed for microbial analysis compared to traditional methods.
- Less than 1 minute of hands-on time, making the testing process quick and efficient.
-
Easy-to-Use:
- Ready-to-use media in unit-dosed packaging eliminates the need for media preparation, simplifying the testing process and saving time.
- The test is performed using the same platform as the Colilert-18 Test, which is widely used in water quality monitoring.
-
Accurate and Specific:
- The Enterolert-DW Test is more accurate than the ISO 7899-2 method and the Microbiology of Drinking Water (MoDW) 2006, part 5 method, especially for chlorine-stressed samples.
- The test uses liquid enrichment, optimizing the recovery of enterococci, and eliminates subjective interpretation that is often found in traditional methods.
-
Quantitative Results:
- When used with the Quanti-Tray or Quanti-Tray/2000, the test provides a quantitative result for enterococci detection, which is ideal for regulatory compliance and water safety monitoring.
-
No UV Light Required:
- Unlike other methods that require UV light, the Enterolert-DW test relies on color change from blue to green, simplifying the process and making it more accessible in various environments.
-
Proven Quality:
- The Enterolert-DW Test is backed by the same quality assurance and regulatory compliance as other IDEXX products, ensuring accuracy and reliability in water testing.
Applications:
- Drinking Water Testing: Ideal for testing enterococci in drinking water, ensuring it meets health and safety standards for public consumption.
- Wastewater Analysis: Suitable for testing fecal contamination in wastewater, ensuring that water treatment processes are effective and compliant with regulations.
- Environmental Monitoring: Used to monitor water quality in natural water sources such as rivers, lakes, and reservoirs.
- Regulatory Compliance: Provides accurate and timely results to ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations for water safety.
How It Works:
-
Quantification:
- Step 1: Add the reagent to the sample, shake to mix, and then transfer to a Quanti-Tray or Quanti-Tray/2000.
- Step 2: Seal with the Quanti-Tray Sealer and incubate at 41°C ± 0.5°C for 24 hours.
- Step 3: After incubation, count the positive wells and refer to the Most Probable Number (MPN) table for quantification.
-
Result Interpretation:
- Yellow wells indicate total coliforms, while yellow/fluorescent wells indicate the presence of E. coli.
