The Invitrogen™ Amplex™ Red Uric Acid/Uricase Assay Kit offers a highly sensitive and simple method for the detection of uric acid or uricase activity using either a fluorescence microplate reader or fluorometer. With the ability to detect uric acid concentrations as low as 100 nM or uricase activity as low as 0.2 mU/mL, this kit is ideal for both basic research and high-throughput biochemical studies.
Assay Principle
Uricase catalyzes the conversion of uric acid into allantoin, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen peroxide. In the presence of horseradish peroxidase (HRP), hydrogen peroxide reacts stoichiometrically with the Amplex™ Red reagent to produce resorufin, a bright red-fluorescent oxidation product.
