The Liofilchem® Legionella Growth Supplement (Ref. 80056) is a freeze-dried additive used to prepare Legionella BCYE Agar Base (Refs. 610049, 620049) for the detection, enumeration, and confirmation of Legionella spp. from clinical and environmental samples, in accordance with ISO 11731 standards.

This supplement provides L-cysteine and iron pyrophosphate, two essential nutrients required for the reliable growth and presumptive identification of Legionella pneumophila and related species.

Composition (per vial)

• L-Cysteine: 0.04 g
• Iron Pyrophosphate: 0.025 g
  (equivalent to 0.4 g and 0.25 g per liter of medium, respectively)

Procedure for Use

1. Aseptically reconstitute the contents of one vial with 10 mL sterile distilled water.
2. Add to 90 mL of sterilized Legionella BCYE Agar Base cooled to 45–50 °C.
3. Mix thoroughly and dispense into Petri dishes.
