The INTEGRAL SYSTEM GARDNERELLA is an 18-well system designed for the biochemical identification and susceptibility testing of Gardnerella vaginalis. It uses colorimetric changes in culture media containing desiccated biochemical substrates to identify the bacterium and assess its susceptibility to antibiotics. Clinical samples such as vaginal swabs, urethral secretions, or seminal fluids can be analyzed with this system. Incubation is carried out at 36 °C ± 1 °C for 18-24 hours.
Package Contents
- 20 INTEGRAL SYSTEM GARDNERELLA systems
- 20 vials of Physiological Solution (7.0 ml/vial)
- 1 bottle of Ninhydrin Reagent (5.0 ml)
- 1 bottle of H2O2 Reagent (5.0 ml)
- 1 amber dropper bottle for Ninhydrin Reagent
- Instruction sheet
Additional Items Required (Not Included)
- Vaseline oil for microbiological use (2 bottles of 50 ml, cod. 80278)

Test Procedure
- Preparation:
- Take a system from the kit.
- Prepare a bacterial suspension in the provided Physiological Solution (0.5-1.0 McFarland turbidity).
- Inoculation:
- Dispense 0.2 ml of the bacterial suspension into each well.
- Add 0.1 ml of the suspension to well 1-IPP.
- Cover well 6-UR with 2 drops of sterile vaseline oil.
- Cover the system and incubate at 36 °C ± 1 °C for 18-24 hours.
- Reagent Addition (Post-Incubation):
- Add 2 drops of Ninhydrin Reagent to well 1-IPP.
- Add 2 drops of H2O2 Reagent to well 5-CAT.
- Result Interpretation:
- Observe color changes in wells 1-12 (biochemical identification) and 13-17 (susceptibility testing).
- Ensure the control well (18-C) turns yellow, indicating successful growth.
