Liofilchem® Rice Starch is a high-purity, native starch derived from rice, obtained through controlled wet-grinding of pure rice. It is supplied as a very fine, white, odourless and tasteless powder, specifically intended for use as a functional raw material in the cosmetic, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, and related industries.
Thanks to its excellent whiteness, low protein and lipid content, absence of allergens, gluten, and GMO, and its controlled granulometry, this rice starch is particularly suitable for thickening, binding, structuring, and texture-enhancing applications where formulation stability and purity are critical.
Key Characteristics & Benefits
- Native rice starch obtained by wet grinding
- Very fine particle size (≤ 75 µm) for smooth formulations
- High whiteness (≥ 97%)
- Odourless and tasteless, does not alter product sensory profile
- Allergen-free, gluten-free, GMO-free
- Low protein and lipid content
- Excellent thickening and binding performance
- Suitable for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and nutraceutical use
Functional Properties
When dispersed in cold water and subsequently heated:
- The starch swells during boiling
- Forms a stable suspension
- On cooling, it gels by retrogradation, providing structure, viscosity, and binding strength
This behaviour makes it ideal for applications requiring controlled viscosity and gel formation.
