Thermo Scientific™ Polyethyleneimine (PEI), M.W. 600 (branched, ≥99% purity), is a highly functional, low-viscosity cationic polymer widely used in nanomaterials research, chemical functionalisation, surface modification, chelation chemistry, polymer synthesis, biotechnology, and industrial formulation.

With a molecular weight of ~600, this branched PEI provides a high density of reactive primary, secondary, and tertiary amine groups while maintaining excellent solubility and low viscosity, making it ideal for fine chemical modifications, nanoparticle coating, and catalytic or resin functionalisation.

The reagent is supplied as a pale yellow liquid with an amine-like odour and is stable at ambient temperature, offering convenience for storage, transport, and laboratory processing.

Key Features & Benefits

Low Molecular Weight (M.W. 600)

  • Lower viscosity than higher-MW PEIs (1,200 / 1,800 / 10,000 / 25,000 / 60,000)
  • Ideal for precision chemical reactions, ligand development, and controlled functionalisation
  • Enhances penetration, diffusion, and uniform coating on surfaces

High-Purity (≥99%) Branched Polyamine

  • Provides consistent performance for analytical, research, and industrial workflows
  • High amine content ensures strong electrostatic interactions and nucleophilicity
  • Reacts readily with aldehydes, epoxides, isocyanates, activated esters, and metal ions

Excellent Solubility & Handling

  • Fully water-soluble
  • Soluble in many polar organic solvents
  • Easy to mix, pipette, and process due to low viscosity
  • Stable at ambient storage temperature
