Middlebrook 7H11 Agar is an enriched version of Middlebrook 7H10, with casein digest providing additional nitrogen, amino acids, and vitamins to support the growth of demanding mycobacterial strains. Growth factors such as biotin, pyridoxine, and glutamic acid enhance metabolism, while albumin protects mycobacteria from toxic compounds.

Malachite green acts as a selective agent to suppress contaminating microorganisms, while glycerol and glucose serve as energy sources. Catalase helps neutralize toxic peroxides, and oleic acid contributes to lipid metabolism essential for mycobacterial growth.
