Invitrogen™ Normal Goat Serum is a lyophilized control serum derived from healthy goats. This product is used extensively in immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunocytochemistry (ICC/IF), and other antibody-based assays. It contains the natural complement of serum proteins, including immunoglobulins, which help block nonspecific binding and saturate binding sites on fixed tissue samples or assay substrates.

Reconstitution Instructions

• Reconstitution: To restore, add the following:
  • 10.0 mL distilled water for the 600 mg package size.
  • 2.0 mL distilled water for the 120 mg package size.
• Blocking Solution: For blocking purposes, prepare a 5% (v/v) solution (1:20 dilution from rehydrated volume).
• Centrifuge: If the rehydrated serum is not completely clear after standing for 1-2 hours at room temperature, centrifuge the product.
• Storage after Reconstitution: After rehydration, the product can be stored for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. However, after dilution, it should be used within one day.
• Long-Term Storage: To extend shelf-life, freeze rehydrated undiluted serum in small aliquots at -20ºC to avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
