The Invitrogen™ E-Gel™ EX Agarose Gels are precast, high-performance agarose gels specifically designed for ultrasensitive and rapid DNA and RNA sample electrophoresis. These gels come pre-stained with SYBR Gold, which offers up to 5-fold greater sensitivity compared to ethidium bromide-stained gels. E-Gel EX gels allow for quick DNA/RNA analysis within 10–20 minutes, without the need for additional gel preparation or buffer.
Available in a variety of gel percentages (1%, 2%, and 4%) and separation ranges (50–5000 bp), these gels are perfect for PCR products, restriction digests, plasmid preparations, and RNA integrity checks. The E-Gel Power Snap Electrophoresis System is required for running and viewing these gels, providing safe, real-time monitoring of sample migration.
Key Features & Benefits
✅ Pre-Stained for High Sensitivity
- SYBR Gold stain offers greater sensitivity—detect 1 ng of DNA per sample, ideal for low-input samples.
- Up to 5-fold greater sensitivity than traditional ethidium bromide-stained gels.
✅ No Gel or Buffer Preparation Required
- Ready-to-use, pre-cast gels with integrated electrodes and SYBR Gold stain.
- Eliminates the need for gel preparation, buffer preparation, or staining steps—simply load and run.
✅ Fast and Efficient
- Complete DNA sample separation in 10 to 20 minutes.
- Compatible with multiple well formats for varying sample sizes and throughput needs.
✅ Safe, Real-Time Monitoring
- Blue-light transillumination provides safe DNA/RNA visualization.
- Compatible with the E-Gel Power Snap System, which includes an integrated blue-light transilluminator—safe for both the user and the sample.
✅ Flexible Gel Percentages and Sizes
- Available in 1%, 2%, and 4% gel percentages to accommodate various sample types, including high-molecular-weight DNA.
- Compatible with E-Gel 96-well, 48-well, and 11-well formats for flexible experimentation.
✅ Easy Sample Access & Gel Handling
- Openable cassette design allows for easy DNA band excision or transfer to membrane for Southern blotting.
- Gel Knife (EI9010) facilitates safe gel access.
✅ Dual DNA and RNA Compatibility
- Suitable for both double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) and single-stranded RNA analysis, including circular RNA.
Applications
- DNA analysis: PCR product verification, restriction digest analysis, genotyping, and cloning verification.
- RNA analysis: Integrity checks for RNA samples before further applications (e.g., RT-PCR, sequencing).
- High-throughput sample analysis for research and diagnostics.
- Protein analysis (indirectly, through DNA or RNA labeling techniques).
- Genomic and transcriptomic studies.
