Gibco™ MEM (Temin’s Modification) (2X) is a concentrated, modified form of Minimum Essential Medium (MEM), one of the most widely used basal media for mammalian cell culture.
Developed from Harry Eagle’s original MEM formulation, Temin’s Modification contains twice the concentration of essential components (2X) and four times the levels of amino acids and vitamins found in standard MEM.
This medium supports the growth of a broad range of suspension and adherent mammalian cells, including HeLa, BHK-21, 293, HEP-2, HT-1080, MCF-7, fibroblasts, and primary rat astrocytes. It is particularly suited for applications requiring robust nutrient supplementation and high cell densities.
The medium is free of phenol red, making it suitable for color-sensitive assays and fluorescence-based detection methods.
