The Invitrogen™ CellEvent™ Senescence Green Flow Cytometry Assay Kit provides a robust and specific method for detecting cellular senescence in mammalian cells via β-galactosidase hydrolysis. This fixed-cell assay uses a fluorescein-based probe containing two galactoside moieties, making it a precise target for lysosomal β-galactosidase, a well-established biomarker of senescence.

Upon enzymatic cleavage, the probe produces a covalently bound, cell-retained fluorescent signal with excitation/emission maxima of 490/514 nm—readily detectable in the FITC channel of most flow cytometers. The optimized assay buffer ensures reliable staining and minimizes background, while the reagent’s spectral properties enable multi-color compatibility with other fluorescent probes.
