This elution buffer enables mild, non-acidic recovery of antibodies or antigen-antibody complexes by using near-neutral pH (6.6) combined with high ionic strength. Traditional elution methods using low-pH buffers can sometimes denature delicate proteins or compromise biological activity. In contrast, the Pierce™ Gentle Ag/Ab Elution Buffer preserves protein functionality and structure, making it suitable for sensitive downstream applications such as functional assays, enzyme activity measurements, or further binding interactions.

The buffer is phosphate-free, which avoids compatibility issues with other reagents (notably the Protein A Binding Buffer) that may precipitate under certain conditions.
