Thermo Scientific™ Glycogen (Molecular Biology Grade) is a highly purified, inert polysaccharide derived from oysters, designed to significantly enhance the recovery of nucleic acids—including low-abundance DNA and RNA—during alcohol precipitation. Its strong precipitation-enhancing capability makes it an ideal choice for workflows involving dilute or low-yield nucleic acid samples, such as those encountered in cloning, PCR, or sequencing protocols.

Unlike other carriers such as tRNA or polyacrylamide, glycogen forms a clearly visible pellet, simplifying recovery and reducing sample loss. It is non-inhibitory to enzymatic reactions and compatible with common downstream processes like PCR, ligation, DNA sequencing, and in vitro transcription.
