Invitrogen™ NuPAGE™ Transfer Buffer (20X) is a ready-to-dilute electrophoretic buffer formulated for efficient protein transfer from NuPAGE™ Bis-Tris and Tris-Acetate gels to PVDF membranes during Western blotting. The buffer maintains the neutral pH environment established during electrophoresis, protecting proteins from pH-induced modifications and ensuring compatibility with N-terminal sequencing techniques like Edman degradation.

This 20X concentrate is easy to prepare and ensures reliable, reproducible protein transfer when used in wet transfer systems such as the Mini Gel Tank, Power Blotter, or iBlot™ 2 Gel Transfer Device.

For enhanced transfer of reduced proteins, NuPAGE™ Antioxidant can be added to the running buffer and/or transfer buffer to maintain protein structure and improve blotting efficiency.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Optimized for NuPAGE™ gels – compatible with Bis-Tris and Tris-Acetate formats
  • Maintains neutral pH – protects protein side chains and preserves structure
  • Supports N-terminal protein sequencing (Edman degradation-compatible)
  • Efficient protein transfer – ideal for Western blot workflows
  • 20X concentrate – cost-effective and easy to prepare
  • Stable at room temperature – convenient long-term storage

Applications

  • Western blotting using NuPAGE™ precast gels
  • Transfer of small to large proteins to PVDF membranes
  • Edman degradation and other protein sequencing methods
  • Enhanced transfer of reduced proteins with optional NuPAGE™ Antioxidant
