Amersham™ Hybond-N⁺ is a high-sensitivity, positively charged nylon membrane designed specifically for nucleic acid blotting applications, including Southern, Northern, and array-based hybridization. With a nucleic acid binding capacity up to 600 µg/cm², Hybond-N⁺ offers superior performance in radioactive and non-radioactive detection methods, delivering high signal intensity and strong retention of target molecules.
The membrane’s positive charge enhances nucleic acid binding through electrostatic interaction, while its high tensile strength and chemical durability support multiple rounds of hybridization and stripping, making it ideal for reprobing experiments. UV crosslinking is recommended for optimal fixation and signal reproducibility. Baking is also possible, although less consistent. Hybond-N⁺ is not suitable for alkali blotting or Western blotting.
