The Applied Biosystems™ TaqMan™ SNP Genotyping Assay (Human) is a gold-standard solution for the accurate detection and discrimination of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genomic DNA. Designed using advanced TaqMan™ 5′-nuclease chemistry, each assay enables precise genotyping of a specific SNP through real-time PCR.

These assays are part of a comprehensive, genome-wide collection covering over 4.5 million human SNP targets, including variants from the 1000 Genomes Project, HapMap, and coding regions, making them highly relevant for a wide range of research applications.

Key Features

  • Gold-Standard TaqMan™ Chemistry
Proven performance for accurate, reproducible SNP genotyping.
  • Dual-Labeled Probe System
    • VIC™ dye detects Allele 1
    • FAM™ dye detects Allele 2
      Enables clear allelic discrimination.
  • Single-Tube Format
Simplifies workflow and minimizes pipetting errors.
  • Pre-Designed & Validated Assays
Functionally tested to ensure reliable results.
  • Extensive SNP Coverage
Access to millions of genome-wide human SNP assays.
  • No Optimization Required
Ready-to-use format for rapid deployment in experiments.

Applications

  • SNP genotyping and allelic discrimination
  • Disease association studies
  • Pharmacogenomics and drug metabolism research
  • Population genetics and stratification studies
  • Linkage mapping and biomarker discovery
  • Genomic and translational research

Principle of the Assay

The assay utilizes TaqMan™ 5′-nuclease PCR chemistry:

  • Two sequence-specific primers amplify the target DNA
  • Two allele-specific probes labeled with VIC™ and FAM™ dyes bind selectively
  • During PCR, probe cleavage releases fluorescence
  • Fluorescent signals enable accurate genotype determination
