Liofilchem™ Haemophilus Supplement

The Liofilchem™ Haemophilus Supplement is a selective, freeze-dried additive designed for the preparation of G.C. Medium (Codes 610022 and 620022) to facilitate the cultivation of Haemophilus spp. This supplement contains Bacitracin, Vancomycin, and Clindamycin, which selectively promote the growth of Haemophilus species while inhibiting unwanted Gram-positive bacteria.

Preparation Instructions

1. Reconstitute the Supplement:
   • Aseptically reconstitute the contents of one vial with 5 mL of sterile distilled water.
   • Mix until fully dissolved.
2. Add to G.C. Medium:
   • Add the reconstituted solution to 500 mL of G.C. Medium (autoclaved and cooled to 45-50°C).
   • Enrich the medium with:
     • 5% defibrinated horse blood (cooked to chocolate agar).
     • 1 vial of Vitalex growth supplement reconstituted with 5 mL of Vitalex restoring solution (Code 81023).
3. Mix Thoroughly:
   • Distribute into sterile Petri dishes.

• Microbiological Control:
  • Inoculate plates prepared with G.C. Medium supplemented with Haemophilus Supplement.
  • Incubate at 36 ± 1°C for 48–72 hours in a 5–10% CO₂ atmosphere.
