    MUC1 (Mucin 1) is a high molecular weight transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the surface of most glandular epithelial cells, including those of the breast, lung, and gastrointestinal tract. It contains a heavily glycosylated extracellular domain with tandem repeats, contributing to its protective and signaling functions.
