Cell Culture Dishes, Plates and Flasks:
Cell culture dishes are disposable or reusable shallow containers specifically designed to support the growth and propagation of cells in culture. Dishes with pre-treated surfaces allow the adhesion of anchor-dependent cells, while untreated dishes support the culture of suspension cells. They come in a variety of sizes in single- or multi-well formats, and they can be round or rectangular. Cell culture dishes are typically made of borosilicate glass or clear plastics (usually polystyrene or polycarbonate), which allow distortion-free microscopic observation. They are often supplied with lids that provide consistent gas exchange while offering protection from the environment.
