Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Novobiocin Antimicrobial Susceptibility Discs are standardized paper discs used for manual antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) via the disc diffusion method. Each disc is impregnated with a precise concentration of novobiocin, a coumarin-derived antibiotic primarily used for differentiating Staphylococcus saprophyticus (resistant) from other Staphylococcus species (sensitive), as well as for evaluating susceptibility in other Gram-positive and some Gram-negative bacteria.
Available in 5 μg and 30 μg strengths, these discs are sealed in shatterproof spring-loaded cartridges, ensuring ease of use, sterility, and consistent application. Each cartridge is foil-sealed with <2% moisture content, providing long shelf life and maintaining disc integrity.
