Liofilchem™ MTS™ Ticarcillin–Clavulanic Acid (TTC) MIC Test Strips are ready-to-use gradient diffusion strips designed for the precise quantitative determination of the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of the combined antimicrobial agents ticarcillin and clavulanic acid against clinically relevant bacterial isolates. These strips provide a continuous gradient concentration range of 0.016/2 to 256/2 µg/mL, enabling accurate assessment of bacterial susceptibility and resistance profiles.

The combination of ticarcillin, a broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic, and clavulanic acid, a potent beta-lactamase inhibitor, enhances activity against beta-lactamase-producing organisms. These MIC strips are particularly valuable for testing Gram-negative pathogens, including Enterobacteriaceae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, where beta-lactamase-mediated resistance is common.

Each strip contains a predefined exponential antimicrobial gradient immobilized on a plastic carrier. When placed on an inoculated agar plate, the antibiotic diffuses into the medium, creating an elliptical zone of inhibition. The MIC value is read directly at the intersection point between the inhibition ellipse and the strip scale, providing highly reproducible and precise quantitative results.
