Selective Medium for Isolation of Wild Yeasts in Brewing and Fermentation Microbiology
MGYP Agar with Copper, from the NutriSelect® Plus product line by Sigma-Aldrich, is a non-sterile, powdered culture medium specifically formulated for the isolation and cultivation of wild yeasts in the brewing industry. The addition of cupric sulfate enhances selectivity, helping to differentiate and recover spoilage yeasts such as Candida, Pichia, Saccharomyces, and Zygosaccharomyces species from complex beer and fermentation samples.
Ideal for use in food and beverage microbiology, this medium supports routine monitoring of yeast contaminants in raw materials, in-process brews, and final products.
