The Pierce™ 1.8K MWCO Polyacrylamide Desalting Columns are pre-packed gravity-flow columns designed for desalting and buffer exchange of proteins, peptides, and other macromolecules with molecular weights greater than 1.8 kDa. Each column contains a stable and hydrophilic polyacrylamide resin that minimizes non-specific binding and ensures high sample recovery. These columns are ideal for removing small molecules such as salts, phenol, dyes, and unreacted reagents (<500 Da), making them essential tools for preparative and analytical workflows.
Unlike other common size-exclusion resins (e.g., crosslinked dextran), the polyacrylamide resin is not degradable by enzymes, does not support microbial growth, and does not leach small molecular contaminants. It offers excellent chemical and thermal stability and is compatible with a wide pH range and various buffer systems.
