Invitrogen™ DNA Polymerase I, Large (Klenow) Fragment is a highly purified recombinant enzyme derived from E. coli, engineered to lack the 5′→3′ exonuclease activity of intact DNA Polymerase I, while retaining both 5′→3′ polymerase activity and 3′→5′ exonuclease (proofreading) activity. This enzymatic profile makes it ideal for precise DNA manipulations in molecular biology workflows where removal of the 5′→3′ exonuclease function is critical.

This Klenow fragment is extensively tested for purity and activity and is shipped with a 10X REact™ 2 Buffer for optimal performance.

Applications

  • Fill-in of 5′ Overhangs
    Used to fill recessed 3′ ends or convert 5′ overhangs into blunt ends in double-stranded DNA.
