Middlebrook 7H10 Agar Base is a selective, solid culture medium for the isolation, cultivation, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other Mycobacterium species. It is widely used in clinical diagnostics and research for early detection and sensitivity testing of acid-fast bacteria. This medium provides essential nutrients and growth factors, ensuring robust growth while partially inhibiting contaminating bacteria through the inclusion of malachite green.
Key Features
- Optimized for Mycobacteria
- Formulated with inorganic salts, amino acids, and growth supplements to support the growth of slow-growing Mycobacterium species.
- Selective Inhibition
- Malachite green suppresses the growth of non-mycobacterial contaminants while allowing Mycobacteria to thrive.
- Enriched with Growth Factors
- Compatible with Middlebrook OADC Growth Supplement (M0678) to provide essential oleic acid, albumin, sodium chloride, dextrose, and catalase.
- Albumin neutralizes toxic free fatty acids, while dextrose serves as an energy source.
- Stable Solid Medium
- Ideal for primary isolation, culture maintenance, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
- Easy to Prepare
- Powdered form ensures ease of preparation and consistent performance.
