Gibco™ Blasticidin S HCl is a sterile, ready-to-use 10 mg/mL solution of the potent peptidyl nucleoside antibiotic Blasticidin S, isolated from Streptomyces griseochromogenes. Supplied in 10 × 1 mL vials, it enables fast and effective selection of genetically modified cells expressing the BSR or BSD resistance genes.

Blasticidin S inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria, eukaryotic cells, fungi, nematodes, and tumor cells, making it an ideal choice for stable transfection workflows. Rapidly inducing cell death, it allows for the generation of blasticidin-resistant mammalian cell lines in under one week.
