The Invitrogen™ FluoReporter™ lacZ/Galactosidase Quantitation Kit provides a high-sensitivity fluorescence-based method for detecting and quantifying β-galactosidase (lacZ) activity in biological samples. This reporter gene assay system uses 3-carboxyumbelliferyl β-D-galactopyranoside (CUG) as the substrate. Upon hydrolysis by β-galactosidase, CUG produces 7-hydroxycoumarin-3-carboxylic acid, a bright blue-fluorescent product.
