The enzyme is recombinant and purified from a non-animal host, ensuring minimal intrinsic RNase contamination, making it ideal for RNA preparation and molecular biology applications.

    The enzyme’s activity is strictly dependent on Ca²⁺ ions and is activated by Mg²⁺ or Mn²⁺ ions, allowing for different cleavage patterns depending on the cation present:

    • Mg²⁺: Cleaves each DNA strand independently, generating randomly fragmented DNA.
    • Mn²⁺: Cleaves both DNA strands at the same site, producing blunt-ended or slightly overhanging DNA fragments.
