    Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Lauryl Tryptose Broth w/MUG is a selective and differential medium for the detection and presumptive identification of Escherichia coli from food, water, dairy, and environmental samples. It incorporates MUG (4-methylumbelliferyl-ß-D-glucuronide), which is cleaved by β-glucuronidase (GUD), an enzyme specific to E. coli, resulting in a fluorescent end-product that is easily detectable under UV light.

    Preparation Instructions

    1. Suspend 35.7g of dehydrated medium in 1 litre of distilled water.
    2. Heat gently to dissolve completely.
    3. Dispense into suitable containers and sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes.
    4. Allow the medium to cool before use.
