High-Throughput, Multiplexed Analysis for Gene and Protein Expression Using Flow Cytometry-Based Bead Technology
The Invitrogen™ Luminex™ 200™ Instrument System is a flow cytometry-based multiplexing platform that allows researchers to analyze up to 100 analytes simultaneously in a single well. Powered by Luminex xMAP® technology, this robust, versatile instrument integrates bead-based assays with digital signal processing to deliver high-throughput, reproducible quantification of protein and gene expression targets across a variety of applications.
With a read speed of up to 12,800 tests per hour, this system supports ProcartaPlex™ multiplex immunoassays and QuantiGene Plex™ gene expression assays, making it an ideal choice for biomarker discovery, immunology, and genomics research.
Key Features & Benefits
-
True Multiplexing Power
Perform up to 100 different tests in a single reaction volume using uniquely color-coded magnetic microspheres. -
High Throughput Performance
Read an entire 96-well plate in ≤45 minutes, processing up to 12,800 tests per hour. -
Flexible Data Handling
Compatible with optional software modules, including 21 CFR Part 11 compliance, automation support, and LIMS/LIS integration. -
Rapid Setup & Shutdown
Daily start-up and shutdown procedures can be completed in under 30 minutes. -
Advanced Optical System
Uses dual-laser optics to identify bead sets and quantify analytes via fluorophore-tagged detection reagents. -
Compact & Scalable
Desktop configuration suitable for mid- to high-throughput research labs.
How It Works (xMAP Technology)
Luminex xMAP technology utilizes color-coded magnetic microspheres, each coated with a capture reagent for a specific target. These beads are mixed with the sample and detection reagents in a liquid phase, allowing rapid binding and reaction kinetics. During acquisition, lasers excite both the bead-specific dye (identification) and the reporter dye (quantification). The system collects data from thousands of microspheres per analyte per sample, ensuring high accuracy and statistical reliability.
