ISO 6888-1 Compliant Supplement for Detection of Coagulase-Positive Staphylococcus aureus

Liofilchem® Egg Yolk Tellurite Emulsion 20% is a sterile, stabilized liquid supplement used in conjunction with Baird Parker Agar Base (Ref. 610004, 620004) for the isolation and enumeration of coagulase-positive staphylococci, including Staphylococcus aureus, in food and related samples. The complete medium, when prepared with this supplement, complies with ISO 6888-1 standards for microbial food safety analysis.

This supplement combines egg yolk (lecithin source) and potassium tellurite, which together allow for selective and differential growth of S. aureus based on lecithinase activity (clear halo around colonies) and tellurite reduction (black or grey colony pigmentation).

    Key Features & Benefits

    • Compliant with ISO 6888-1 – Supports validated microbiological food safety protocols
    • Dual Detection Capability – Identifies S. aureus via lecithinase and tellurite reduction
    • Ready-to-Use – Each 50 mL bottle supplements 1 liter of Baird Parker Agar
    • Sterile & Stabilized Emulsion – Ensures consistent performance and extended shelf life
    • Rapid Preparation – Requires only aseptic mixing with cooled, sterilized agar base
