Thermo Scientific™ Polyethyleneimine (PEI), molecular weight ~60,000, supplied as a 50% (w/w) aqueous solution, is a high-molecular-weight branched polyamine widely used in nanomaterials research, surface modification, water treatment, adhesives, coatings, catalysis, and polymer functionalisation.

This grade contains a dense network of primary, secondary, and tertiary amines, providing extremely high cationic charge density. Its high molecular weight enables exceptional film-forming ability, strong adhesion to surfaces, enhanced viscosity, and high performance in crosslinking and flocculation applications.

The reagent is supplied as a clear, viscous, water-soluble polymer solution, ensuring ease of use, rapid dissolution, and safe, ambient-temperature storage.

Key Features & Benefits

High Molecular Weight (M.W. ~60,000)

  • Stronger binding, thicker coatings, and higher cohesive strength than lower-MW PEIs
  • Ideal for creating durable films, hydrogels, and polyelectrolyte layers
  • Excellent for nanoparticle coating and surface functionalisation

50% (w/w) Aqueous Solution

  • Ready-to-use, no heating required
  • Reduced viscosity compared to solid high-MW PEI
  • More stable and safer to handle than powdered PEI
  • Easily miscible with water and many polar solvents

High Purity & Analytical Consistency

  • Solids content: 48–52%
  • GC purity ≥98.5%
  • Infrared spectrum conforms to PEI signature
  • Clear viscous liquid ensures batch integrity
