The Glass Mosquito Feeder (Small, Membrane Style) is a precision laboratory device designed for artificial blood feeding of mosquitoes in entomology, vector biology, and disease transmission research. It enables controlled, hygienic feeding experiments by closely simulating the temperature and conditions of a live host.
The feeder consists of a double-chamber glass construction:
- An outer chamber for circulating warm water at 37 °C, maintaining physiological feeding temperature
- An inner blood chamber into which blood or test solutions are introduced
A Parafilm™ membrane is stretched over the lower portion of the inner chamber to act as an artificial skin surface through which mosquitoes feed. Once assembled, the feeder is placed on top of a screened mosquito cage or box, allowing mosquitoes to feed naturally through the membrane.
Key Features
- Membrane-style glass mosquito feeder for laboratory feeding assays
- 14 mm diameter feeding area, suitable for small-scale or controlled experiments
- Double-chamber design for efficient temperature regulation
