Liofilchem® Schaedler Supplement 10 vials

SCHAEDLER Supplement is a freeze-dried, selective antibiotic supplement composed of Kanamycin and Vancomycin, designed for addition to Schaedler Agar Base (Ref. 610043 or 620043). This supplement inhibits Gram-positive flora, including Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Escherichia coli, while enabling selective growth of Gram-negative anaerobic bacteria, such as Bacteroides spp.

It is ideal for clinical diagnostics, microbiota studies, and pharmaceutical microbiology where selective cultivation of fastidious Gram-negative anaerobes is required.

Composition (per vial)

Instructions for Use

1. Reconstitute one vial of Schaedler Supplement in 5 mL sterile distilled water.
2. Add the solution to 500 mL of autoclaved and cooled (45–50 °C) Schaedler Agar Base, previously enriched with:
   • 5% defibrinated sheep blood
   • 0.5 mL Vitamin K 1% Supplement (e.g., Cat. No. 80053)
3. Mix thoroughly and dispense into sterile Petri dishes.
4. Incubate anaerobically as per microbiological protocols.

• Store at 2–8 °C in original packaging
• Protect from heat and light
• Use before the expiry date
• Once reconstituted, store at –20 °C for up to 30 days, protected from light
