The MCE Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) is a highly sensitive, non-radioactive colorimetric assay kit designed for the quantitative determination of cell viability, proliferation, and cytotoxicity. Based on the WST-8 assay principle, this kit provides a simple, accurate, and high-throughput solution for evaluating cell metabolic activity in response to various treatments.
CCK-8 is widely used in drug discovery, cancer research, toxicology, and cell biology studies, offering superior sensitivity and convenience compared to traditional assays such as MTT. Its ready-to-use format eliminates the need for additional solubilization steps, making it ideal for routine laboratory workflows.

Assay Principle
The CCK-8 assay is based on the reduction of WST-8 by cellular dehydrogenases in viable cells:
- WST-8 is reduced by mitochondrial dehydrogenases
- Produces a water-soluble orange formazan dye
- The amount of formazan is directly proportional to the number of living cells
- Measured by absorbance (OD) at ~450 nm
