Gibco™ Human PDGF-AA Recombinant Protein (PeproTech®) is a highly purified recombinant growth factor used in cell biology and biomedical research to study cell proliferation, differentiation, migration, and tissue repair mechanisms. PDGF-AA belongs to the platelet-derived growth factor family, a group of potent mitogenic cytokines involved in the regulation of connective tissue cell growth and development.
Recombinant Human PDGF-AA is produced in an E. coli expression system and supplied as a lyophilized, preservative-free protein with a purity of ≥98% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analysis. The protein forms a disulfide-linked homodimer consisting of two A-chains with a total molecular weight of 28.5 kDa. This recombinant cytokine demonstrates strong biological activity by stimulating proliferation of Balb/c 3T3 fibroblast cells, with an expected ED50 of 1.0–3.0 ng/mL.
PDGF-AA is widely used in studies involving fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, endothelial cells, and glial cells, where it functions as both a mitogenic and chemotactic factor. It also plays roles in collagen synthesis, immune modulation, neuronal survival, and wound healing pathways, making it a valuable tool in regenerative medicine, oncology, immunology, and neuroscience research.

Biological Function
Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF) is a key regulatory cytokine involved in cell growth, migration, and tissue repair. PDGF-AA is one of three major PDGF isoforms (AA, AB, and BB) and signals primarily through the PDGF receptor-α (PDGFR-α).
In biological systems, PDGF-AA:
- Stimulates proliferation of fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells
- Promotes chemotaxis of immune and connective tissue cells
- Regulates collagen synthesis and extracellular matrix remodeling
- Supports neuronal survival and glial cell proliferation
- Modulates immune signaling and inflammatory responses
These properties make PDGF-AA a critical reagent in cell signaling, wound healing, cancer biology, and regenerative medicine research.
Gibco™ Human PDGF-AA Recombinant Protein (PeproTech®) is a high-quality, bioactive cytokine reagent designed for advanced research applications in cell biology, regenerative medicine, neuroscience, and oncology. With exceptional purity, low endotoxin levels, and proven biological activity, it provides researchers with a reliable tool for investigating PDGF-mediated signaling pathways and cellular responses in vitro.
