Selective supplement for isolation and enumeration of Legionella spp. (ISO 11731 compliant)
The Liofilchem® Legionella MWY Supplement (Ref. 81019) is a lyophilized selective additive used in combination with Legionella Growth Supplement (Ref. 80056) and Legionella BCYE Agar Base (Refs. 610049, 620049). Together, these components produce MWY Agar, a selective medium for the detection and enumeration of Legionella species from clinical and environmental samples, in accordance with ISO 11731:2017.
MWY Agar incorporates selective agents and pH indicators that inhibit contaminating microflora and enhance presumptive identification of Legionella colonies.

- Bromothymol Blue: 0.001 g / 0.01 g
- Bromocresol Purple: 0.001 g / 0.01 g

Preparation Instructions
- Reconstitute the contents of one vial with 2 mL sterile distilled water.
- Add to 90 mL autoclaved, cooled Legionella BCYE Agar Base (45–50 °C).
- Add 10 mL of reconstituted Legionella Growth Supplement (Ref. 80056) to complete the medium.
- Mix thoroughly and dispense into Petri dishes.
Quality Control
- Legionella pneumophila WDCM 00107 → Good growth.
- Enterococcus faecalis WDCM 00009 → Totally inhibited.
- Escherichia coli WDCM 00012 → Totally or partially inhibited.
