The Gibco™ Insulin-Transferrin-Selenium-Ethanolamine (ITS-X) Supplement (100X) is a serum-reducing basal medium additive designed to support the growth and maintenance of mammalian cells in culture.
ITS-X is routinely used to minimize the use of fetal bovine serum (FBS)—commonly replacing 96–98% of serum supplementation—while maintaining optimal cell viability and function.
When used with 2–4% FBS, ITS-X effectively supports cell types requiring ethanolamine, including bronchial epithelial cells and other serum-sensitive cell lines.
