Accurate soil moisture profile measurement using PR2 Profile Probes depends on proper installation of access tubes. The Delta-T Augering Kits are engineered to produce straight, smooth-sided augered holes that ensure optimal soil-to-tube contact—critical for avoiding measurement errors caused by air gaps, compaction, or poor soil contact.

Three augering kit configurations are available, each designed for specific soil types and installation depths. For dry sandy soils, the PR-AUG2 25 mm spiral auger should be ordered in addition to the chosen kit.

Key Features

• Stabilisation Plate – Keeps auger vertical and reduces funneling (hole enlargement) at the surface, preventing poor tube-soil contact.
• Insertion Rod – Drives access tubes into augered holes with applied bottom force (e.g., hammering), reducing flexing and minimizing air gaps.
• Finishing Auger – Enlarges pilot holes to the exact diameter needed for access tubes, creating straight, smooth holes in most soils.
• Optional Extraction Kit (PR-EXK1) – Heavy-duty system for safe removal of access tubes, including jack, chains, foot, and clamp.
