Invitrogen™ SYTO™ Green Fluorescent Nucleic Acid Stains are a collection of cell-permeant nucleic acid dyes that bind selectively to DNA or RNA, emitting bright green fluorescence upon interaction. These dyes are widely used for live-cell and fixed-cell imaging, bacterial staining, flow cytometry, and nucleic acid quantification.
Unlike traditional nuclear stains like DAPI or Hoechst, SYTO dyes permeate both live and dead cells and can stain nuclear, cytoplasmic, and mitochondrial nucleic acids. The variety of SYTO dyes provides flexibility in selecting a dye based on cell type, nucleic acid selectivity, fluorescence intensity, and spectral compatibility with commonly used fluorophores such as FITC, GFP, and Alexa Fluor™ 488.
