Liofilchem™ McFarland Densitometer, Den-1B is a compact digital densitometer designed for measuring the turbidity of microbial cell suspensions in McFarland units. It is suitable for routine microbiology workflows requiring standardized inoculum preparation, including antimicrobial susceptibility testing, microorganism identification, fermentation monitoring, and other laboratory procedures involving bacterial or yeast cell density measurement.
The Den-1B measures optical density and displays results digitally in McFarland units. It is factory calibrated for use with 16 mm diameter glass tubes and retains calibration settings even without power supply. The instrument can also be calibrated using 2 to 6 points within the 0.0–6.0 McFarland range, with the option to restore factory calibration settings when required.

Calibration Note
The unit is factory calibrated for operation with 16 mm diameter glass tubes and retains calibration without power supply. For maximum reliability, Liofilchem standards are recommended for calibration, although other commercial or self-prepared standards, such as BaSO₄ standards, may also be used.
Storage & Handling
Place the densitometer on a stable laboratory bench in a clean, dry environment. Use clean tubes with sufficient sample volume of at least 2 mL. Ensure that tubes are compatible with the correct adapter and that the outside of each tube is clean before measurement to support accurate turbidity readings.
