Liofilchem® Middlebrook 7H10 (OADC) Supplement is a sterile, ready-to-use liquid enrichment supplement used for the preparation of Middlebrook 7H10 or 7H11 agar media for the cultivation of mycobacteria, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It contains a carefully balanced formulation of oleic acid, bovine albumin (fraction V), glucose, catalase, and sodium chloride, which support the nutritional and physiological needs of mycobacteria during in vitro culture.
The supplement is used in combination with Middlebrook 7H10 Agar Base (codes: 611022 or 621022) or Middlebrook 7H11 Agar Base (codes: 610213 or 620213) to enhance recovery and growth of M. tuberculosis and other mycobacteria.
Key Features and Benefits
- ✅ Growth-promoting formulation: Supports optimal growth and metabolic activity of mycobacteria.
-
✅ Contains protective and energy-enhancing agents:
- Oleic acid – Long-chain fatty acid critical for cell wall synthesis and energy.
- Bovine albumin – Binds and neutralizes toxic compounds, enhancing mycobacterial recovery.
- Glucose – Readily metabolized carbon and energy source.
- Catalase – Destroys harmful peroxides.
- Sodium chloride – Maintains osmotic balance in the medium.
- ✅ Compatible with both Middlebrook 7H10 and 7H11 agar bases.
- ✅ Reliable performance: Quality-controlled using standard mycobacterial strains.
- ✅ Long shelf life: Stable when stored at 2–8 °C in sealed packaging.
